1 Peter 5:6-12
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.
I have been a Christ Follower for 5 years. Before my life was filled with Christ's love I found myself making bad choices when it came to men, relationships, sex and my own body. Choosing to engage in dangerous activities and putting myself first in all situations came to a halt in 2009 when I came to Level 13 Church. Coming to love the lord, allowing Him to be the leader of my life, and submitting to His direction has not only changed my life but those in my path.
Today, 3/17/2014 I received a special text message from my friend Nikki. I met Nikki almost 2 years ago while I was working for an organization as a case manager. Nikki was an alcoholic and had lost both her kids due to neglect. I remember my first few months with her as a trying time not only for her but for me personally. I knew I desperately wanted to help her get her children back but most importantly help her find God again. In order for her to put down her addictions she needed restoration of her mind, soul, heart and body. After a long visitation with Nikki one day God spoke to me through 1 Peter 5: 6-11. I left a sticky note on her bathroom mirror with the scripture coordinates and left the house without mentioning it.
Today I received this text: "Case officially closed today! Thank you so much for helping me stay positive and having my back". I would like to take credit for her success but I know that the timing, suffering, and recovery was a God thing.
Nikki always repeated
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith"
"After you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast".
Nikki is 100% addiction free! She is 100% Baptized in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit! She is now a great mom!
Would she have turned her life around without my scripture sticky note? Maybe. But, I know one thing is for certain. God loves her. God cares for her. He never gave up on her. She will always be His princess. To him be the GLORY and HONOR forever.
